Disneyland 2019

We were planning on taking a trip to Disneyland in September or October for Halloween time, but after seeing the low wait times with the opening of Star Wars land going on we decided to get crazy and take a spontaneous trip. We only had about a week to prepare from the time we decided to go which truthfully made it even more fun.

We didn't tell the kids where we were going, so the trip was a complete surprise for them.
They knew we were going to Utah to see Aunt Bekah, but that was all they understood.

Hudson wanted a picture with the "giant pineapple"

We drove to my sister's apartment and stayed the night so we would be a few hours closer for our long day of driving.
To be honest, the kids never really asked where we were going.
If they did ask we told them somewhere in Utah or we would be there soon.

We went straight to the beach when we got there.
We had a little while before we could check into our hotel, so it worked out perfect.
They loved the beach! Ella didn't really want anything to do with the water, but Hudson really liked it. They both had a blast playing in the sand.

DAY ONE

Our first day in the parks was spent at Disneyland.
Hudson had finally hit 40 inches, so we were really excited to get to take him on some of the bigger rides.

That excitement was short lived because he hated them.
We started with Big Thunder Mountain, and the dark, loud tunnels freaked him out.
We had to bribe him with cotton candy to get him to ride any bigger ones after that.

Space mountain wasn't a hit either.
He said it hurt his stomach.

Ella was tall enough to ride her first roller coaster!
She was a huge fan of Gadget's Go Coaster.
We rode it again and again to her heart's content.

DAY TWO

Day 2 was spent at California Adventure
Hudson got to ride Radiator Racers for the first time, and it truly was the highlight of his whole trip.
He could not get enough of it.

We rode Jessie's Critter Carousel for the first time since they re-themed it.
It was super cute!
There was a lot of rides Hudson could do in this park that Ella wasn't tall enough for.
Ella made up for it by riding The Little Mermaid ride a million times, and even got bored enough to take a nap. We certainly didn't complain about the nap.

DAY THREE

And back to Disneyland for day 3!

We tried Pizza Planet for the first time and were delightfully surprised.
Taylor got pizza both times and I got some pasta dish that was their daily special.
The alien macaroon was a huge hit for us.

We ended our time at the parks with a train ride around to take it all in one last time.
The trip was so so good to us, and it was a ton of fun to have that special time with just Hudson and Ella once again.

Avery obviously wasn't with us on the trip.
We made the decision that she wouldn't have enjoyed it like we would have wanted her to (to much time spent strapped in a car seat and a stroller), so she got to spend a few days with Taylor's parents.
I think she really loved all of the attention she got, and truly had a better time with them than she would have had with us.

Poor thing had the most random freak accident when she was with her grandparents.
She cut her pinky finger on their garbage can and ended up needing 4 stitches.
It wasn't a big deal at all, but we were grateful for the tender mercies that happened with the event and the small town community they live in.

The reunion with Avery was so sweet, but I don't think she really missed us all that much haha.
