Thanksgiving 2016

For Thanksgiving this year (and every year) we went to my in laws in Grace.
It is so weird to bring 2 kids to a family event. It made having 2 kids feel a bit more real haha.
We watched the parade in the morning, ate some time after noon, and topped off with pie in the early afternoon.
That smile!
Hudson's favorite thing about his grandparents house has to be the piano.
He is obsessed with playing it.
It makes me very glad that we don't have a piano, so I don't have to listen to him banging away all the time.
This is the only picture from the feast that I took. Oops.
Hudson was in heaven actually getting to drink pop.
He probably would have drank the whole 2 liter if we had let him.

We got home around 6 and then my sister and I headed to Target and the mall to see what kind of good deals we could find.
Naturally, everything I bought was for Hudson and Ella.
Why is it so easy for me to spend money on my kids? :)

We spent the next few days decorating for Christmas and spending time together as a family.
It was perfect.

All of October

Oh my goodness where did October go?!
It came and went way too fast.
Our month started off with a bang with Ella being born on the 3rd.
Read that story here.

We'll start out with some random pictures from the month..
One Saturday morning Hudson was being a little energetic toddler and using the broom as his choice of weapon. It was both hilarious and terrifying at the same time.
Hudson has been obsessed with all of the baby products in the house.
& Halloween crafting
I stayed home from church with Ella the first Sunday after she was born. This was a snapchat that I received from Taylor.
Put Ella in anything blue and she looks like Hudson did as a baby.
(She wasn't that yellow in real life)

10 Days with Poppy & Gigi
My parents came out to visit for 10 days to help with Ella and to see us Hudson.
We packed in as much fun as we could in the short time that they were here.
Hudson and my mom made our traditional Halloween sugar cookies.
He put his M&M's in the measuring cup, tried to roll over already cut out cookies, and poked cut out cookies.
I think he about killed my baking perfectionist mother.

Hudson and my dad were best buddies.
He had so much fun playing with Poppy all day long
We made multiple trips to Reed's Dairy because my dad loves it.
Hudson certainly didn't mind it either.

We went to Grace for a few hours one of the days they were out here.
Taylor's mom had a delicious lunch waiting for us when we finally made it down there.
After lunch they shot guns for a little while and then we all went riding.

Boo at the Zoo
My parents and sister came with us to Boo at the Zoo.
Hudson was kind of confused at first, but he got got the hang of trick or treating there very quickly.
Pretty soon he was running up to the booths and putting his bucket towards them.
He LOVED seeing all of the animals and all of the Halloween decorations.
He said "wow" countless times as we walked around the zoo.
Afterwards we went to Costa Vida for dinner because my mom is a big fan and had to get her fix while they were out here.

Ella's Blessing
We blessed Ella on October 30th.
It was so great to get to spend time with family.
Here is Ella with my Aunt Beckie, her Great Grandma Linda, and my Aunt Terri after the blessing.
A more detailed post on the blessing can be found here.

Pumpkin Carving
He was SO funny to clean out the pumpkin with.
He refused to touch the guts and would freak out if the guts touched him.
He was very insistent that the guts needed to go back in the pumpkin, and so he put the guts back in the pumpkin over and over again.

Halloween
Halloween was SO much fun this year. Our ward's trunk or treat was on Halloween this year, so my parents came with us and took him around to all of the cars.
picture overload, and I don't even care.
These two melt my heart.
While we were at the trunk or treat Hudson climbed in the back of our car with me and then climbed down as I was passing out candy. While Taylor was talking to someone Hudson came up to me and handed me a lollipop wrapper. I asked Taylor if he had given him the lollipop and he told me that he hadn't. The little stinker had gotten it out of his bucket that was in the car and helped himself to it without either of us realizing.
He had insane amounts of energy and giggles, so we took him to a few houses on our street once we got home to burn off some of his sugar high.

Unfortunately, it was my parents last night here, so the rest of the evening was filled with packing and goodbyes.

And that's a wrap!
October, you were so, so good to us!

Ella's Blessing Day

We blessed Ella on October 30th, 2016 at our church in Idaho Falls. We blessed her while my parents were still in town so that they could be here on her special day. She had a lot of support from family on both mine and Taylor's side.
Taylor gave her an incredible blessing. My dad, Taylor's dad, Jordan, Nathan, Sheldon, Grandpa Jensen, Uncle David x 2 (one on each side of the family), Uncle Robert, and Justin were in the circle for the blessing.
After the blessing everyone headed back to our house for an early lunch before they had to head seperate ways to journey home. We decided to do a party sub this time with chips and drinks. Quick, easy, and yummy! It was great for everyone to get to meet Ella and to have a chance to see family members that hadn't been seen in a long while. Having my house bursting at the seams with family makes me love my little home even more.
We are so blessed to have you in our lives, sweet girl!

12 Months of Ella// Month 1

Weight: If our scale is right she is about 9 pounds exactly. At her 2 week check up she was 6 pounds 15.5 ounces.

Height: 21 inches

Diapers: Size 1

Clothes: Newborn and some 0-3 month clothes. 0-3 month clothes are still on the bigger side. Pretty much all of the pants we have are too big on her.

Sleeping: I change, swaddle, and feed her any time after 8 (most of the time it's around 9) and then put her to bed in the pack n' play in our bedroom. She is usually up at least 2 times a night around 1 and 5, but the past few nights she has been up at least 3 if not 4 times. She eats and then goes right back to sleep without any problems. We really haven't established a nap time schedule yet because she still spends most of the day sleeping, but she is really starting to be awake more and more. When she is awake it is for about 2 hours at a time. She is a lot harder to get to sleep during the day than she is at night.

Eating: She nurses for about 20 minutes every 3 hours or so. When I pump and feed her from a bottle she eats 3 ounces. It took us trying a couple of different bottles before we were able to find one that she will drink from. She spits up quite a bit.

Milestones: Her neck is definitely getting stronger and she is getting better and better every day at holding up and controlling her head. She has rolled from her tummy to back 3 different times now, but it definitely isn't a regular thing.

Likes: Her pacifier//being held//sucking on her hands//sleeping in our arms//being swaddled and being warm.

Dislikes: Getting put in her car seat (once she is in it she's fine)//waiting to be fed//the hiccups//getting bathed//when Hudson drives his cars on her head.

Ella seems to have a pretty similar demeanor to what Hudson had at this age. She might be a little more high maintenance, but I think that is because I/we are trying to tend to two kids at once which means that I can't alwaysmeet her needs as fast as I could Hudson's.

Hudson absolutely adores her 90% of the time. He is constantly touching her head, giving her kisses, peeking in her car seat and saying "boo," holding her hand, and laying with her on the ground. He copies her head bobbing during tummy time and it is the funniest thing. I can't wait to see how their relationship changes as she starts to interact with him more.

1 Week old in this picture
& a comparison of her and Hudson.
I think Hudson was a week or two older than she was in this picture.
This was the best that I could get to compare the size of the two of them haha.
He will come up out of no where and hold her hand

Her first week at church when she was two weeks old.
Both dresses were her cousin Raelyn's.
Does it get any sweeter than a sleeping baby?

Hudson's 1 month update is found here.
