12 Months of Hudson// Month 8

-16+ pounds. 27.5 inches
-Size 2 diapers
-Still wears mostly 3-6 month clothes. (I had all of this cute summer clothes for him to wear in 6-9 months. It's breaking my heart that they're still too big on him.)
-Pulls himself to stand on EVERYTHING. crib, high chair legs, tv stand, glider, laundry basket, kitchen stools, couches, toy bin, walker, side of the tub.
-Starting to really get the hang of lowering himself back to the ground after he has stood up.
-Has dark blue eyes. Everyone comments on how blue they are. I hope they never change color.
-Hands and knees crawling! He rarely army crawls anymore
-Eats 6 ounces every 4-5 hours unless he has had solids.
-We finally got around to switching him to size 4 bottle nipples
-Will eat anything we give him. Baby led weaning is in full swing.
-Loves bananas, oranges, puffs, yogurt, peas.
-Little moocher. He is always after our food when we are eating and won't stop until we give him some.
-Plays independently really well.
-Probably 85% of the time he prefers to be put on the floor to crawl around and explore rather than be held. He always wants to be moving which means that he will crawl to you to be picked up, sit with you for a minute or two, and then try to squirm off of your lap because he doesn't actually want to be held.
-Loves toys that light up and sing/make noise, especially his singing tractor.
-Loves mirrors. He will sit and stare at himself whenever he comes across a mirror. (On a toy, in the bathroom, etc.)
-Has the cutest scrunchie face. He scrunches his nose and sniffs hard. It cute and hilarious. I just wish that I could get a video of it.
-Still spits all the time. Taylor and I are trying to get him to stop because we are so over being spit on all the time. We are losing the war.
-Makes an "ahem" sound when he wants more and we aren't feeding him fast enough for his liking.
-Wakes once a night more often than he sleeps through the night..
-Bangs on the crib with his pacifier when he wakes up.
-Most days he only naps twice a day, but some days he still naps 3 times a day.
-Has started to slowly cruise along furniture.
-Gets bashful. When someone he doesn't know well says hi to him depending on his mood he will put his down into you if you are holding him. If he is sitting by himself and someone talks to him he will put his head down for a second or two and then shyly look back up.
-First tooth!

He had a weight check up a week and a half after he turned 7 months. The worry was not that he is in a low percentile for weight, but the worry was that he dropped so many percentiles between check ups meaning his weight gain dropped dramatically. At the weight check up the doctor told me to keep doing what we are doing so for now (and hopefully always) we aren't worried about his weight gain.

Last Sunday at church there was a little boy about 2-3 months older than Hudson sitting in the last pew across from us. The little boy army crawled over to us while looking at Hudson, so I put Hudson on the floor to play with him. The little boy giggled at Hudson as they sat there and took turns reaching for and grabbing each other for a few minutes. Then they ditched staying by us and crawled over to an older couple that was sitting in the very back and played with them for a few minutes. They were quite the duo.

His first tooth is on the bottom right side. Really it's first teeth because the second one was only a day behind the first. They're not all the way out of his gums yet, but they are getting close. Teething these two teeth was a dream. We didn't even know that they were coming in until after the first one had poked through, and we only knew that it poked through because I was fishing a large chunk of orange out of his mouth. If every tooth came in as easy as these two did we would be happy, happy, happy.

The belly tickles <3
He kept whining for attention as I was trying to get some things done. I knew he wasn't really upset and some tickles would fix the whining.
Still so ticklish on his belly, his inner thighs, sometimes armpits, and his neck.

I wish it didn't get out of focus, but he is starting to get faster at crawling.

I know I already posted this picture on another post, but those eyes!
& Don't be fooled by his sweet personality. The boy has an attitude.

Spaghetti lover

He got so wrapped up in his blanket while playing.
& Seriously though, the attitude.

Such a sweet baby
& Chocolate lover

I knew this step up to the fireplace would be trouble with young kids when we bought the house.
I just didn't realize that it would be trouble this soon.

Turning his toy bin on its side is the easiest way to keep him preoccupied for any actual amount of time.
& He tends to get high centered on things quite often.

He LOVES food!
& A fever that just would not give up lead to some of the best snuggles.

Just chomping on his dad's steering wheel.
We're going to pretend like it is even semi clean and sanitary..

When did he start looking so grown up?!
& Trying to get him to take a nap, and this is the look I was getting.

When he's smiling so big that you almost can't see his eyes...

One of his favorite spots to play

Cheesing at his father
(I have no idea what I was doing, but I do know that I wasn't sleeping)

Another favorite place to play.
I pick those blocks up at least 4 times a day.
It would be more if I actually picked them up every time he knocked them down.

Weddings Galore & a Week with Family

At the end of July my mom came to visit and attend two of my cousins wedding.

We drove to boise on the 24th, picked up my mom, and stayed the weekend to attend my cousin, Colten's, wedding. Hudson enjoyed being spoiled by his grandma and great grandparents.

Waiting for my mom in the airport.
Pretty sure he was licking that... hahaha
Also I now know never to let my baby crawl around on an airport floor. His onsie was disgusting afterwards.

We were fed well, had great company, and a place to stay, so we had a great weekend.

Munching on pickles during dinner.

On Saturday we went to the Boise temple for Colten's wedding and then headed to Middleton. Before the luncheon we stopped to visit my Grandma's grave. (my mom's mom)

Meeting his Great Grandma Jensen for the first time.

On the way home we stopped to visit my Great Grandma Jensen. She was very happy to see all of us, and it was great for my mom to be able to see her grandmother again.

First time Hudson met his Great Great Grandma Jensen

The rest of our week was filled with plenty of adventures.

We crafted.

My brother, Matt, stopped by for a few days while on his way to Montana. It was the first time that he got to meet Hudson.

We went to a baseball game.
Hudson only lasted 3 innings before he was ready for bed.
Truthfully, I think we all only lasted 3 innings as much as we wanted to blame the baby.

We visited the Greenbelt.

We hiked.

I forgot his hat, but I had an extra pair of shorts in the diaper bag.
Poor guy. #momfail

We got 4 out of the 5 children in my family together.
Along with my momma!

We attended the rodeo.
Grandma worked her magic and got Hudson to sleep during the rodeo.
The boy was having nothing to do with mom and dad's attempts to get him to sleep.

We attended Justin's wedding in Rexburg and spent time hanging out with cousins at their reception.
I kind of love this whole getting married and having babies stage that we are all at/getting to.

And we said goodbye.
His Aunt Rebekah left her senior pictures in his crib so that he will remember her.
(He has ripped them all down now. Sorry Rebekah)
For the first time in way too many goodbyes I haven't been pregnant or postpartum hormonal which was so nice.
I actually didn't cry during the goodbye with my mom, but managed to last until a while later :)
And it didn't make me quite as depressed as the last goodbye when I was 3 weeks postpartum.
A tender mercy really.

4th of July Weekend

The day before the 4th we went to Lava Hot Springs to go swimming and then to Taylor's parents.

Hudson loved the water at first, but he was ready for a nap, so he didn't last long. It was the first time that he swam in a big pool with us. (He went with my cousin, Melissa, while we were at Lagoon)

After we swam we went and got some square ice cream, and Rebekah and Taylor went and floated the river while I hung out with a sleeping baby.

Chocolate ice cream face <3

Then we went on a Rzr ride in Grace before heading back to Idaho Falls.

My sister, Rebekah, was with us on all of these adventures.
(Thanks Taylor's mom for watching Hudson while we went riding!)

The views are incredible.

Our 4th of July was pretty low key. We attended the city parade, grilled some burgers, and watched the fireworks. We purposely got to the fireworks plenty early so that we could enjoy some time outside on the river. It was the perfect summer day.

He was so ready for a nap by the time the parade started.
Apparently it is Idaho Falls 150th year so a lot of the floats were decorated around that theme.
I was really impressed with the way the city views the temple.
It was very apparent that it is an important landmark of this city.
There were multiple floats that had the temple on it, and I could not believe the detail that a few of the floats had. It literally looked like a mini version of the temple was going by us.

The noise of the parade did not even make this boy flinch during his snooze.

After a nap he woke up in a much better mood, and he loved watching the parade.

Snoozing in the stroller while waiting for the fireworks.

My 4th of July loving baby.
