life as of lately

Life has been a whirlwind since having Hudson. The days seem so long and short and busy but sometimes relaxed all at the same time. I'm continually amazed at how much things have changed around here. Much of our lives are recounted through Hudson's monthly updates since everything now has to do with him, but I wanted to get down some things that aren't shared on them.

I'm a big fan of Valentine decorations.
Too bad I didn't get around to taking a picture until the flowers were dying.
Please notice the footprint 'love'. I'm kind of obsessed with using Hudson's footprints for crafts.

Our Valentine's day was very relaxed. When I got up I made a yummy Valentine's breakfast for Taylor complete with pink pancakes. We then drove around to some different car places to try and find Taylor a truck. No luck... (If anyone wants to sell us the perfect truck at the perfect price feel free to) Taylor spent most of the rest of the day fixing our car. Stupid alternator! but now he is as good as new :) We knew going out to dinner was out of the question because long wait times to get in plus long wait times to get food does not work when you have an 8 week old baby. By the time Taylor was done with the car we didn't know what to eat so he ran to winco and picked up a pizza. He came back with roses, Reese's hearts, and chocolate milk. I got Taylor a new tie. He just barely picked them out... All in all it was a good day.

Hudson is my little buddy. He loves to help me blog (as if I actually get any posts done...) He runs errands with me during the day and we play when we are home. He doesn't mind me dragging him along on plenty of shopping trips, and I'm pretty sure that he actually appreciates the fresh air and change of scenery. He has started this new thing where he just gets sick of being in his car seat if we have been out for too long. That means that I occasionally end up holding him so he really gets to see more.

Taylor went to Reno for a school thing for work last week. We missed him dearly and Hudson was so happy when he got home. It gave me a greater appreciation for Taylor's help with Hudson in the evenings. Hudson and I made a sign to welcome him home. Hudson insisted on adding his personal touch ;)

Taylor's parents have been up to visit Hudson a few times. Unfortunately the last two times they were up Hudson was a grump, but you can't blame the boy for being upset when he is overtired. Hopefully Hudson will be in a good mood next time they visit.
Kayleigh, Jordan, and Connor have visited a few times. Love to see Connor and Hudson together since they are only 5 months apart.
Lehi, Brei, and Maverick have also stopped by to visit. Guys, my 10 month old nephew is walking! And I don't mean taking one or two steps and then falling down. I mean walking where ever he wants to go. It's nuts. Last time they were here he walked all over our house like he owned the place.

We celebrated Taylor's 24th birthday last Thursday. He worked and then came home to presents(a boot dryer from my parents, money from his parents, and a wallet and new lunch pail from me). After he opened presents we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It was super yummy! Taylor ended his night by playing some church ball. I really hope he had a good birthday. He only changed one diaper all day long and I don't think it was even poopy, so how bad could his day have been? ;)

What it looked like in the pictures on the house listing.
Right before we got started

We spontaneously decided to renovate our bathroom this past weekend. I've never loved it, but I didn't think about changing more than the paint color before. We shopped around a bit Friday night trying to decide what we wanted, got everything Saturday we needed Saturday morning, and then got to work. Thankfully, my sister was coming down to Idaho Falls so she watched Hudson while we got some of the work done. Since we moved in we have changed the toilet, vanity, light, medicine cabinet, paint color, and added the floating shelves. I'm hoping that next year we will change the floor and the shower/tub. I'm pretty sure that Taylor would love it if I would stop watching Property Brothers so that I don't come up with any other big projects.

I'm in love with it. Like I spend extra time in it just because I love to look at it.
The shelves aren't finished, but hopefully I will find the right pieces soon.
It is a privacy window, but would you put blinds or curtains in the window? Or nothing at all?
I'm afraid that curtains would take up too much room, and I have no idea what color I would even consider for them. And the heater vent would blow the curtains around. Help! Opinions please.

Really not too much has been going on. Our lives our dedicated to this handsome little boy of ours and I wouldn't want it to be any other way.

12 Months of Hudson// Month 2

-22 inches tall(15th percentile) and 11 pounds 5 ounces(30th percentile) as of the 17th.
-Eats 3-4 (usually 3.5) ounces of breast milk every 3 hours.
-Gives smiles on occasion.
-Happiest in the morning, after waking up from a long nap, and when dad gets home from work.
-Loves to be sat upright and stood up. His legs can support the weight of his body now.
-Size 1 diapers.
-0-3 month clothes. Can still fit in some newborn things, but they are definitely on the tighter side.
-Sleeps in 3 hour stretches at night. (We got a four and a half hour stretch the other night!)
-Swaddled at night, but not usually during the day.
-Will nap through a feeding during the day, but almost never sleeps through a feeding at night.
-Doesn't care about toys.
-His legs have gotten immensely stronger. If you hold his hands he will stand up and hold himself up.
-Head control has also gotten a lot stronger. You can sit him up or hold him him on your hip and he does pretty well without his head flopping around too much.
-Sucks on his knuckles.
-Loves his father. He saves most of his smiles for when he gets home from work.
-He looks like an old man-bald on top with hair on the sides.
-Eyelashes have started to grow. Hoping he has long lashes from my family.
-Eyes have started to change color. Lighter blue around the pupil and the rest is still the same dark blue/gray.
-Does well with tummy time for a few minutes.
-Constantly grabs everything-my hair, our shirt collars, dirty diapers, pacifier.
-Occasionally puts himself to sleep with just a pacifier.
-Can see the mobile on his swing. He likes to sit and watch it spin. (started about 6 weeks)
-Has started to occasionally coo and make noises.
-Shushing calms him.
-Has started to drool in the last week. Hello bibs!

Hudson was sleeping in his crib at the beginning of this month and then he got sick and ended up sleeping in our bed again. We haven't really tried too hard at moving him back to his crib yet, but I'm trying to train him with his naps to get him in there. He will wake up after a shorter period of time if we put him in his crib, but if he sleeps in between us(not touching either of us mind you) he sleeps longer. It is quite frustrating.. But after reading this article on waiting it out I'm not in such a hurry to move him out of our bed because I know this stage will pass faster than I want it to.

I put Hudson in his swing for a nap one day, turned the mobile on, and walked away. A minute or two later I hear him having a little conversation with the puppies on the mobile rather than sleeping.

He had his first sleepover. Taylor had to go away for work so we decided to ditch our empty house to spend some time with my best friend from college. I loved getting to see Reagan and her husband. Her mom and sister stopped by to see Hudson which was so nice of them. Hudson did really well, and I think he loved having some more ladies love on him.

He typically gets grumpy in the evenings. And I mean GRUMPY. He is happy when his father gets home from work and then around 7 he will start to get fussy and cry and cry. Usually the crying is because he is tired and ends up getting overtired and then can't fall asleep.

I set Hudson on the floor for some tummy time and walked away to find something for lunch. All of a sudden I hear the sound of him sucking on something. Knowing that there wasn't a pacifier anywhere near him I figured I had better go check on him. I walked over to see his head laid down with his fist in his mouth and him sucking away. He definitely does his own thing when it comes to tummy time.

There's a little smile and giggle in this video.

Watching the mobile

The boys love to match on Sundays.
&After work play time is my favorite thing to watch.

Can you say baby suspenders? How about baby pea coat?

Family movie night
&fist pump for grey's day

church outfit the Sunday before Valentine's Day
&all bundled up for a walk in the warmer weather

Happy to have his father home after he was away for a few days.
&What the floor usually looks after Taylor changes Hudson.
Most of the time a dirty diaper is still sitting there as well.
He's good at the changing part, not so good at the cleaning up part.

When cousins have the same outfit by chance you have to put them both in it for a picture.
Connor 7 months. Hudson almost 2 months.
Connor wearing it in 12 months. Hudson wearing it in 0-3 months.

Happy to be wearing some new jammies from his Grandma Thomas
&We accidentally left the house without a pacifier... Using my finger got old.
The dropper from his gas drops was the closest thing we could find to use.

I'm aware that I take and post on here way too many pictures of Hudson, but I just don't want to forget a single moment with this little boy and this time in our lives.

Overall Hudson is a really good baby.
We love him more than what seems possible.
Happy two months sweet boy!
