The difference a year can make..

We signed the papers and got the keys exactly a year ago today We have put so much hard work into making this house a home that is perfect for us, and we have loved every minute of living here. We loved our neighborhood in the summer when we saw and later moved into this house last summer. We loved this neighborhood even more with each passing season. (Although, we probably didn't love it as much during winter because winter sucks in any neighborhood where it is snowy and cold..) We have grown to love our church family. Our neighbors are nicer than we could have hoped for.

This is our first house. This is the home that we brought Hudson home to when he was days old. Where we watched him roll over, crawl, and will later watch him take his first steps and say his first words. This is where we had our first garden. Where we took care of our first lawn that was our own.

We knew when we bought this house that it would not be our forever home. I knew that we would one day sell this home. I never knew how sad it would make me to even think about selling this house. I know that my love for this house will grow even more as the years go by. This house will forever have a special place in my heart.

Before & After
Of course, the wreath changes depending on the season/holiday.
What better place to start than the front door?

There was no overhead light in the living room when we moved in.

I don't have a picture of the whole room, but this at least shows the new paint color.

The decorations have changed on the shelves, and I love it even more after changing what we originally had on the shelves.

After, but still in progress.
We still have to make one more garden box (our peas were already growing there before we decided that we wanted garden boxes) and fill in with woodchips.

Mudroom.

I don't have a before picture, but the room was just kinda gross.
They kept their dogs in there so it smelled terrible, and it was just gross.

You can kind of see how big and overgrown the tree bush things were on the side of the house.

The white tree on the right was dead as can be.
Apparently it died at least 10 years ago, and no one has taken the time to cut it down.

After but still in progress
We cut down the tree a couple of weeks ago, but we still have to pull the stump out.

  3. It's crazy how much can change in a year! I feel like we have had a lot of the same experiences this past year. Renovating and updating a home, having a baby, being in school... Also, what did you hang the letters above his crib with. I have some wooden ones from Target that I want to hang with command strips and a few people are freaking out because... earthquakes... but I don't want to redo my nursery decor plan :P
